Track-by-track commentary by the selecter:

ACK MCDUFF – ELECTRIC SURF BOARD.jpg

1. Jack McDuff – Electric Surf Board

Dug up this record somewhere in the US on a cross-country crate-digging trip with Okiman and Nejrup. Every single track on this record is boomin, the keys and drums are genius on this track. Brother Jack McDuff knows what’s up!

THE SURE FIRE SOUL ENSEMBLE – THE HUNT.jpg

2. The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble – The Hunt

Amazing soul track from the San Diego ensemble, the drums are killing! Lots of juicy breaks on this joint. Every samplers dream!

AMP FIDDLER – DREAMIN.jpg

3. Amp Fiddler – Dreamin

Oh my man Amp Fiddler! Really juicy joint this one. It has everything you need: smooth hip hop drums and keys that makes you wanna lay down for a bit and smile

JAY DEE (J DILLA) – KAMAAL.jpg

4. Jay Dee (J Dilla) – Kamaal

One of my top 5 instrumental dilla joints. Don’t know what the sample is, but man…I get so emotional when i listen to it. Such a beautiful track. This one proves why he was ”the best that ever did it”. RIP!

PETE ROCK – PETE’S JAZZ.jpg

5. Pete Rock – Pete’s Jazz

Classic Pete Rock joint. Killer drums, spot on vibraphone samples and that low pete rock signature bass line. One of the best from the Petestrumentals series!

DJ DEZ – UNTITLED B.jpg

6. Dj Dez – Untitled B

This guy is one of my heroes. Dj dez aka. Andrés. I just love how he chop and arrange his samples. A true wizard on the mpc!

DJ SPINNA – LOVE IS SOLD.jpg

7. Dj Spinna – Love is Sold

Solid Dj Spinna tune off his album Here To There. Never leaves the bag!

AZYMUTH – MEU MENGÔ.jpg

8. Azymuth – Meu Mengô

These guys never disappoint. Started collecting they’re records a year ago or so, and i’m loving every single one. True brazilian jazzy vibes. Failaaaaaaa, failaaaaa, meeeengo!

ELIS REGINA – AMOR ATÉ O FIM.jpg

9. Elis Regina – Amor Até O Fim

Crazy bossa joint of her 1974 ”Elis” album. Queen of Brazil, Elis Regina! Dug this up at Mint Records, CPH. Never been so touched to hear a record in store as i did with this. Her beautiful voice combined with the delicious bossa vibe…amaaaazing

JACO PASTORIUS – COME ON, COME OVER.jpg

10. Jaco Pastorius – Come On, Come Over

Smooth jazzy funk track from Jaco, the best bassist that ever did it. I fell for this track because of the bassline. He knows what to do with a bass. ”Get on the floor and get on down baby”.

11. HEATWAVE – TURNAROUND .jpg

11. Heatwave – Turn around

Actually the spacey intro on this joint is my favorite part, but the needle skipped while mixing, so yeah, you have to go check it out yourself. My fav from Heatwave. Go cop this album!

12. ONE WAY – LETS GO OUT TONIGHT.jpg

12. One Way – Lets Go Out Tonight

My go to friday track. It has that kind of 70’s pimp vibe to it. I think i have 3 copies of this album. Essential album! Check out: You’re the one & Pop it as well.

CONGA RADIO – NATURALMENTE.jpg

13. Conga Radio – Naturalmente

Jolene classic. A perfect record to do a switch from disco. Never leaves the bag.

DJ DAY – LOVEBUG.jpg

14. Dj Day – Lovebug

Warm broken beat track from a fellow mpc guy, Dj Day.

CHAOS IN THE CBD – TRUST IS KEY.jpg

15. Chaos In The CBD – Trust is Key

Mellow track from the Chaos boys. The drums are tight as f***.

JAY DANIEL – ROYA DILEMMA.jpg

16. Jay Daniel – Roya Dilemma

I never get tired of the Detroit man Jay Daniel. I have been following him for years and he never seizes to amaze. This dark track makes me want to drive through the streets of Detroit and feel the vibe

17. Andrés – Genos Pimp Suite

Sleazy pimp track from my hero, DJ Dez aka. Andrés. When he isn’t doing hip-hop stuff, he’s producing some of the craziest house music. Almost all of the tracks on this album have been reissued on different records, including this track. Another essential!

OO WILLIAMS – CHI-TOWN TECHNO.jpg

18. Boo Williams – Chi-Town Techno

Alongside “Glenn Underground – Atmosfear”, this record was the first house music I ever heard and liked. Ripped it off Youtube back in 08’- 09’, but now I finally have both records. Crazy record!

HANNA – SHIMMER.jpg

19. Hanna – Shimmer

I saved the best for last! The deep house GURU, mighty Hanna! There are not enough people that know about this master. Totally underrated producer from Cleveland that produced a series of record in the 2000’s but went under the radar for some years, but he is back! He is releasing a record on Apron from London very soon, big up! This record contains some of his best work. It has the signature off drums, female vocal samples, digital keys sounds and a long ass solo. Recipe for genius man!

Thank you Osco Radio for having me! Peace !
